TIPS ON HOW TO MEDITATE

Meditation is comparatively much easier than some people would give it credit for.

The important factor is your state of mind before attempting this.

If you are very stressed, or have anger management issues it isn`t going to work without some effort to reduce this tension.

A good breathing excercise before you start will help.
My method is to inhale for 3 seconds, hold for 3 seconds and then exhale for 3 seconds.
Do this for a few minutes and you should start to feel more relaxed.

Once you have performed this, and you feel ready for the next phase I would suggest you find a quiet warm room in the house which is shaded from bright sun light or at night, a room with low lighting.

Find a position you feel comfortable to sit in. It could be an armchair or simply sitting cross legged on the floor. Whatever method you employ, make sure you feel no discomfort.

Meditation is firmly seated in having a good imagination - this I will explain.
When you are relaxed and quite ready, close your eyes and imagine yourself to be somewhere in the world that you would feel really happy to live in.

For me it can be a warm sunny beach fringed by palm tree`s in the tropics,
or it can be a wild rugged forest edge surrounded by rocks or mountains with a stream or waterfall flowing through.
Your choice is simply limited by your own imagination.

Music as an accompaniment is very useful too. This helps the relaxation process and combined with the visual imagery of your own creation, they converge to provide a powerful boost to your meditation session.

The best music for me is the type of `chill out` music you often hear on the `Ministry of Sound` C.D`s, it is very powerful and when meditating you can feel your mind and body drifting slowly to a state of complete euphoria.

You know when you have arrived at this level because you no longer feel to be in the same room as your body, and you can feel your mind drifting away like a bird floating high in the sky.
These sessions should last between one half hour to an hour daily.

In time you will find it easy to revert into a meditative condition, and this process enables you to open psychic senses that were always there, but until now unappreciated.

Another side effect is that when you are truly in a deeper state of mental relaxation you feel a most wonderful warm and elated feeling of completeness and being at one with the world.

Never take drugs or alcohol when meditating because it won`t work.
If you are on prescribed medication this too may `dampen` your awareness capabilities.

Remember: Practice makes perfect, and don`t give up at the first hurdle!
